In April 2015, GTECH and IGT combined forces to give way to one of the world’s biggest end-to-end gaming company called International Game Technology PLC. This wasn’t just any old merger, however, because this $6.4 billion deal saw the creation of a truly global powerhouse in the gaming market, which is why the company was welcomed to the New York Stock Exchange to trade alongside some of the biggest businesses in the financial markets. That wasn’t the first time that this company has undergone some major changes, because GTECH itself actually used to be known as Boss Media, a Swedish software producer which was bought on the Stockholm Stock Exchange in 2008.
