The Legend of Shangri-La Review
The Legend of Shangri-La is a 6-reel online slot with the Cluster Pays mechanic. It’s the next installment in NetEnt’s Cluster Pays series such as Aloha! Cluster Pays™. The game features Sticky Re-Spins, Random Substitutions, Nudge Reel, and Free Spins and is based on a fictional place called Shangri-La, which is described as a mystical and harmonious valley – a Himalayan utopia.
Symbols on the reels include koi carps, butterflies, dragonflies and flowers. Elephants, tigers and monkeys appear stacked on the reels. Random substitution symbol is a green question mark.
A symbol is part of a cluster if it’s
horizontally or vertically adjacent to the same symbol. You need to form clusters of 9 or more to get a winning combo.
The Substitution Symbol transforms into
the adjacent symbol that creates the highest possible winning combo
in a cluster. The Substitution Symbols can appear anywhere on the
Sticky Re-Spins feature is played when at least 2 non-winning clusters of the same symbol appear anywhere on the reels. During a Sticky Re-Spins, the winning
symbols are held and all other symbols re-spin. The feature will end when no more symbols appear on the reels or the screen is full with winning symbols.
Nudge Reel is activated if 2 Scatter symbols appear on the reels. The feature can nudge the 3rd Scatter symbol from above or below onto the reels and trigger the Free Spins.
This feature is familiar with Microgaming’s Untamed
series like Giant Panda.
3 or more Free Spin symbols trigger the Free Spins.
3 Scatters = 5 Free Spins
4 Scatters = 6 Free Spins
5 Scatters = 7 Free Spins

Random Substitutions feature is in play during the Free Spins, but beware of the dragon spirit on the mountain. The dragon spirit may appear randomly and freeze and blow away the Random Substitutions symbols.
